Turnitin Draft Coach provides you with the ability to use Turnitin's tools in your Google Docs to help you work towards the final draft of your assignment before you submit to your teacher. Draft Coach is a tool that you can use WHENEVER you want even on writing that is not a part of a class assignment. While a teacher may encourage you or even ask you to use Draft Coach while working on an assignment, the results are not shared with anyone.
How to Open Draft Coach
From your Google Doc, go to Extensions > Turnitin Draft Coach > Turnitin Draft Coach.
A side bar will open on the right side of your Google Doc interface.
**The first time you use Draft Coach, you'll need to agree to the terms and conditions.
Draft Coach Tools
There are currently three different tools available to you through Draft Coach.
Similarity Check
Similarity check allows you to compare your writing and work against other sources on the internet. You are allowed 3 checks on each Google Doc so use them AFTER completing a draft. Your results will show a similarity score and instances where your work matches writing found online. Check with your teacher on what sort of percentage is acceptable for your assignments.
Citations Check
Citation check helps you identify when your citations are missing references as well as which of your references do not have citations. It also detects the citation style you are using, such as MLA. It will help you verify that you're citing your evidence, that each reference in your bibliography has a citation in your text, and that every citation included within your writing also has a reference in your bibliography.
Grammar Guide
Grammar Guide scans your document for grammar mistakes. Found errors are highlighted, categorized, and listed with suggestions on how they could be corrected. Use your best judgement and own knowledge of the English language to determine whether or not revisions should be made to your writing.
