How does Edpuzzle work?

With Edpuzzle, you can make any video your lesson in three easy steps:

  1. Find a video on YouTube, upload your own or re-use a video lesson created by another teacher.
  2. Then, edit the video to create your lesson. Record your voice to personalize it, and hold your students accountable by embedding questions in the video.
  3. Assign the video to your students and check their progress in real time while they learn at their own pace. 

Create your account

  1. Visit https://edpuzzle.com/ and click Sign up
  2. Choose I'm a Teacher
  3. Use the Sign in with Google option and login with your school Google account.  


Create a Class

  1. On the left-hand side of your page, click the + sign next to "My Classes".


  2. Choose Create new class.


  3. Fill out the class information. For Class type, choose Classic (this means you can keep track of student responses). When finished, click Create class


  4. You will receive an email confirmation with the class code and you'll see your new class under My Classes


Invite students to your class

Once you've created your class, you can invite students by either sharing your class code or a direct link with them. Choose your class from My Classes and click the Invite Students button near the top-right of the page.



Direct Link (Recommended)

  1. Click the Copy link option.
  2. Paste the link into an onCampus Assignment or on your class Bulletin Board or a Topic page. 
  3. Direct students to click on the link. 
  4. Students should click Sign in with Google and login with their school Google Account.


Class Code

  1. Write the class code somewhere for your students to see. 
  2. Have students go to https://edpuzzle.com/ and click the Sign up button.
  3. Choose I'm a Student
  4. Use the Sign in with Google option and login with their school Google account. 
  5. Students should click the + sign next to “My Classes” in the menu on the left-hand side of the page. 
  6. Enter the class code in the pop-up window that appears.
  7. Click Find class
  8. Find the class name and click Join class.


Create video lessons

There are a number of different ways to find and create video lessons. Here are some resources on creating video lessons


Assign video lessons

  1. Click on your My Content library from the menu on the left-hand side of your page.




  2. Check the box(es) below the video(s) you wish to assign and select "Assign" from the bottom menu.


  3. Choose the classes you want to assign the video to. 
    • By default, the "Assign all" option will be selected which assigns the video to all the students in your selected class(es), including any students who may join your class in the future.
    • If you only want to assign the video to certain students in your class, check the box for the class you're interested in and choose the "Assign manually" option. Then you can select the specific students to assign your video to. 
  4. Add a start date and due date (if necessary) and choose if you want to prevent skipping or turn on closed-captioning.
  5. Click Assign



Share assignment link with students

  1. Click Share assignment and either copy the assignment link or the embed code and paste into your onCampus assignment.
    • Note: Assignment links are class-specific, meaning if you've assigned a video to multiple classes, each class will have a unique assignment link that will only work for students in those classes.  


Assess student progress & grades

  1. Select the class you want to view from the My Classes list. 
  2. Click on the assignment
  3. You'll see a summary of progress and grades for students in that class.
    • To see a full report of a student's progress, click the student's name under the Students tab. 
    • To see how students responded to specific questions, click the Questions tab. You'll se a summary of the number of successful answers for each question. 
    • Select any question to see all the student's responses to that specific question. 


EdPuzzle - For Students
