Quicktime is a built in application on Mac computers that allows you to create screen recording videos.

  1. Open QuickTime Player on your computer. (Be aware, that a window for the application will not open but you will see the QuickTime Player menu options in your toolbar.)
  2. Go to File > New Screen Recording.
  3. If you're using QuickTime for the first time, you may need to allow it access to your microphone by clicking OK.

  4. Verify that the audio input is correct by clicking on the down-arrow next to the red record button. If you're just using the microphone that is built into the computer choose Internal Microphone. If you are using a separate microphone such as a headset, choose that option. You can also choose whether or not to Show Mouse Clicks in Recording.

  5. Begin Recording by clicking the red record button.
  6. Choose to record your full computer screen by clicking anywhere or drag your mouse to record only part of your screen.
  7. End the recording by clicking on the Stop button in your toolbar.

  8. The screen recording will automatically open for your review.
  9. Go to File > Export As. The recommended size is 720p. This median file size should be a clear enough video while still being a small enough file to upload to the web.
