In order to be able to use Apple Classroom, your device must be updated to the latest versions of macOS.


The following links provide instructions for using Apple Classroom for classroom management. 



Apple Classroom (on Faculty Mac)


  1. Open the Classroom app on your Mac, then enter the name you want your students to see (For example, Mrs. Day). 
  2. Click the image icon to take or choose a photo, then click Done. 
  3. Click to create a class.

  4. Enter the name of your class (For example, Spanish I - Period 4), enter a description (not required), select an icon and background color for the class, then click Done.

  5. You will now see the class' icon.

  6. When you're ready to use Classroom with a class of students, click on the class and then click Invite Students. (After adding the initial students, you can add additional students by clicking on the 3 dots in the toolbar and choosing Invite Students.)

  7. A 4-digit code will be provided to you. This code screen will trigger the ability for students to join your class. It must stay open while you're adding students. 

  8. While the join code is still open on your teacher computer, tell students to go to System Settings > Classroom on their MacBooks. 

  9. Students should click on your class under the Invites heading. 

  10. Ask students to verify their information by either using their "My Card" information from their MacBook or typing their first and last name. Then ask students to click Add Class and type the class' the 4-digit code. 


  11. Once you see all of your students have joined the class, click Add


  12. The Studentstab shows the applications students are using. 

  13. The Screenstab shows the screens of student computers. 

  14. Note that when you are viewing student screens, the Air Play icon on the student's computer will turn blue.


  15. You can lock all student screens by selecting the Lockbutton. You can lock an individual student's screen by selecting the student's icon before clicking the Lock button (select multiple students by holding command while selecting students). 


  16. You'll receive a confirmation that the screens are locked. Locked screens will show a lock icon. 



  17. To unlock student screens, click the Unlockbutton. 


  18. At the end of class, click End Class

  19. A summary of students' application usage will be shown. You can click on an app to see which students opened it during class. You can also click on a student to see which apps they opened during class. This information is not saved anywhere or accessible at another time. If you want to save the information, take a screenshot of the summary




Notes

Students do have the option to Remove Class but doing so will send a request to the teacher to either approve or deny.
